Owner Spotlight: David Paruk

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

After spending five years in real estate, I became a mortgage advisor in 2010 as I love helping people achieve their dreams, finding a mortgage solution for a client who couldn’t see one is very rewarding!

I have been involved in Real Estate construction and mortgage brokering / investing for over 10 years.

My particular love grew out of an experience I had in my 20’s.  While knowing generally nothing about real estate and construction, I threw caution to the wind and built a house with my father in law. He was an experienced builder and guided me through the process, but it was still intimidating and very scary.  Also life altering.  We built everything on the house, except the shingles and the gas fitting, because I didn’t want to be sitting in a puddle of water, or want the house to blow up!  At the start of that process, I didn’t even know how to use a drill. By the end, I knew everything that went into building a house.

From that point on, I’ve been hooked on to real estate. I knew I wanted to do something to keep the connection to real estate going. Though being a realtor was on the table, I was in touch with a couple of mortgage brokers, who helped me learn the tricks of the trade, and get into mortgage financing. That has been no looking back since.

I work hard, and I like to focus my mortgage business on helping people achieve their financial and life goals.  I believe that it is because of this focus, everything else will fall into place. As an individual, I believe what sets me apart from the others is my honesty, integrity, efficiency, and communication.

An observation I have made after being in the business for close to a decade is people are now a lot more comfortable doing business away from a face to face connection. I prefer seeing people face to face, but often it’s not possible or desired. Technology has changed everything, especially the way we communicate with clients, and with lenders. Putting a file together used to mean putting an actual file and folder together. Now it’s all about saving files to a digital platform as everything is digital.

When I am not at work, I spend my time raising my three young kids. Between work, and raising them, I don't have time for much else. I don’t mind it as they are great kids. The trick will be getting them to enjoy the things I like doing so we can ‘hobby-time’ together. Hiking, bike riding, camping are all things we are starting to get into more as a family.
